Installing local mail server in Ubuntu

Steps to have a local mail server to allow web applications send emails from your localhost server.

Steps to have a local mail server to allow web applications send emails from your localhost server:

	sudo apt-get install php-pear
	sudo pear install mail
	sudo pear install Net_SMTP
	sudo pear install Auth_SASL
	sudo pear install mail_mime
	sudo apt-get install postfix

After installing postfix a configuration screen will show up.

In the first screen it is explainend the options. I think Internet site is the most common and the one I chose in the next screen.

Next, it will require mail server name, you can write "localhost" for example.

Then continue configuring php.ini:

	sudo gedit /etc/php5/apache2/php.ini

and search for sendmail_path and change it like:

	sendmail_path = "/usr/sbin/sendmail -t -i"

That's all.
